Course Summary

This ITSSAR accredited course will provide the delegate theoretical and practical knowledge on how to safely operate a Counterbalance Lift Truck.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course the delegate will be able to:

  • The reasons and the need to train
  • Responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER 98 & LOLER 98
  • Operators Safety Code
  • Battery maintenance, charging procedures and re-fuelling
  • Pre-use checks
  • Counterbalance principles and rated capacity
  • Factors affecting machine stability
  • Machine familiarisation and motive controls
  • Hydraulic controls
  • Load types
  • Manoeuvring in open and confined areas
  • Stacking and de-stacking at various levels (bulk stacking and racking systems)
  • Stacking and de-stacking corner locating loads
  • Vehicle loading and unloading

Certification

Delegates will be awarded an ITSSAR certificate of attendance and, will be registered on the TOPS scheme.

If required, an ITSSAR ID card can also be provided at an additional charge.
